NEWS: The Ensemble "Umberto Giordano" pays tribute to Giuseppe Verdi

CÜNEYT ÜNSAL - Cüneyt Ünsal was born in Smyrne in 1977, he graduates in musical disciplines with address specific in lyrical singing at the University Dokuz Eylül of his city. He begins very young the career of baritone after a selection for young singers at the State Theatre of Smyrne in 1998. Here he debuts different roles between Figaro (Barber of Seville), Geronio (Il Turco in Italia), Giorgio Germont (La Traviata), Ford (Falstaff), Escamillo (Carmen) and Valentino (Faust). He has participated in his country to many musical festivals, always with excellent consent of the audience and critical.

In Italy has made his debut with Dandini in collaboration with the Theatre La Fenice in Venice. He has sung later in a production of contemporary work Processo a Babbo Natale of Roberto Molinelli, for which he also interpreted Loratory Pope Wojtyla on the occasion of the first anniversary of the death of the Pope for the Theatre Giordano in Foggia, the Theatre Rossini in Pesaro and the Theater Tosti in Ortona.

Following the success achieved in the role of Dandini, was extended from La Fenice Theatre and from the Conservatory of Venice for the role of Don Giovanni by Mozart. In October 2006 attended a tourneé in prestigious theatres of Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Denmark and Holland interpreting Marcello in La Bohème, Giorgio Germont in La Traviata. In December 2006 has played the role of Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana of Mascagni at the Theater Donizetti of Bergamo and in June 2008 Figaro it the Barber of Seville at Olympic Theatre of Vicenza, role that has repeated in the version of Paisiello in July 2008 conducted by Donato Renzetti.

In 2009 has sung Il Tabarro (Michele) and Falstaff (Ford) in Tirana conducted by Gianna Fratta. In August has debuted the role of Sharpless in Madama Butterfly at the festival Gijon directed by Mariano Rivas and with Massimiliano Pisapia. In autumn 2009 made his debut in the role of Jago in Otello with Renato Bruson’s direction. In 2010 he debutted in the difficult and demanding role of Enrico in Donizetti’s opera Il Campanello dello Speziale at the Greek Theater Politeama of Lecce with the conduction of Alessandro Sangiorgi and directed by Tito Schipa Jr. Recently he has recorded two CDs with the Ensemble Giordano: All’Opera dopo l’opera and Ludwig’s Songs published from the Italian magazine Amadeus.

He has attended master classes in opera singing with teachers such as Stella Silva, Sherman Lowe, Maurizio Arena, Giorgio Proietti, Mauro Trombetta and Renato Bruson.
